 “The price is a million dollars!” you answer quickly.

“OK, deal! I can arrange a transfer to your bank account today. I will send you a web address. Upload the files and as soon as we verify the files, you will get paid.” He hangs up.

A few seconds later, you receive a link on your cell phone. You go down to the hotels small business centre and use one of the computers to access the link. You insert the memory stick into the computer and it takes a few seconds to upload the files containing the decryption key, thank the stars for broadband!

A message appears, informing you that the upload is complete. It is followed immediately by another unexpected message, this one tells you that the files are being erased from the disc.

“Oh no you don’t!” You reach for the memory stick, but just before you can remove it, a message is displayed ion the screen: “Deletion Complete”.

You check and see that the disk is not just deleted, but it is totally unusable. It does not even register on the computer.

Nothing to do but wait. You phone Rodriguez again but an automated voice tells you that the number you have dialled is no longer available and that you should please try again later.

You get up in disgust, angry at yourself that you got fooled. You are also stuck with a massive room service bill and an employer that is probably wondering where his helicopter is.
