 The subway seems to be the best bet.

“Emily, hide in the hotel, I am going to lead him away from you!” you shout at Emily.

You fire a few shots in the car’s direction and sprint as fast as you can in the direction for the subway.  The gunman ducks behind the car for cover.

You are halfway across the street when another volley of gunfire erupts. Bullets tear through the air around you, missing you by inches. You fire two more shots to force him to take cover and sprint the last few yards to the subway entrance. People taking cover from the gunfight pack the entrance. You shoulder your way through the throng, deeper into the subway.

You jump over the turnstiles. You land on the other side and without breaking your stride, run deeper into the subway. Relative calms reigns through this part of the subway. You continue to sprint and reach the platform, busy with commuters going about their day. You can see the lights of a train arriving further down the tunnel.

 “Halt!” you hear a sharp yell behind you. A police officer approaches you. He is drawing his weapon. You realise that you are still holding the pistol Kate gave you.



“Drop your weapon!” The command causes a stir in the crowd. Those standing close to you seeing an armed officer and an armed civilian. Panic spreads and people start get as much distance between themselves and you. In their panic, some of them come between you and the officer. At that moment the arriving train slows down and open its doors.
