 “Brake!” you yell to the driver.

The driver brakes and the car careens to a stop, the front just inside the intersection.

You glance sideways and see the black car barrel into the intersection. The driver did not expect you to brake and thought you will make a run for it. He accelerated in anticipation. Seconds later the car makes contact with a big truck and almost disintegrates from the impact. The driver of the truck is OK but the same cannot be said of the people in the perusing car.

You thank the driver for his excellent driving. He surprises you with a smile, simply saying “Any time.”

By this time the traffic is backing up and people are getting out, gawking at the mayhem in the intersection.

You decide it is not a good idea to hand around for the authorities and that you need to get to Geneva as quickly as possible.  The taxi driver tells you that there is a train station close by and that you should be able to catch a train to the airport and still be on time.

You follow his advice and minutes later catch a train to the airport.

To your surprise, as you get to the ticket collection counter, the resistance leader Kate is waiting for you

“We were so worried about you, we thought you were captured!”

You tell her about your adventure as you make your way to the plane. Three hours later the plane touches down at Geneva. Kate rents a car and you set off.

The professor is a bit shook up from the events during the day and as it is late afternoon, he wants to rest at a hotel before you go to the university.
