“This is just another ambush! We nearly got killed last night blundering our way into a situation we are not prepared for,” you tell Kate.
“But I have friends that I can call on, people who can help
us!” She protests.
“No! This is final. I have the data and I will go to the
university alone. However much I like the professor, the information on here is
more important than a single man.” You turn to Emily. “I’m sorry Emily, but
deep down you know I am right. I doubt that the professor is alive anyway. They
have no reason to keep their word,”
She looks at you with tears in her eyes and nods. “I… I
guess you are right,” she stutters. “At least if we give his work to the world
he would not have died for nothing.”
She starts to cry, Kate consoling her while casting an angry
look your way.
You set off to the university. Kate’s friends meet you as
soon as you arrive and take you to their labs. You hand over the memory stick
and they go to work immediately with decrypting the files. It takes them
several days to decrypt and make sense of all the information, but eventually,
the information is uploaded.
Two days later, Kate informs you that the police have found
the Professor’s body. You are devastated by the news, but you are convinced
that you did the right thing for humanity.
